7+ Stunning Halloween Decor Themes For Your Home

Halloween decor themes can be helpful for a variety of reasons, but I like them because they can help you stick to a budget. Choosing a theme can help you decide from the plethora of Halloween items available in the store and online what is key to buy and what you should leave.
Here are some of my favorite decor themes to choose from, ranging from happy classical styles into the slightly more eclectic, there is sure to be one to suit your unique Halloween needs this year.
Classic Halloween
Might as well start with, well, the classic style. This style is all about embracing orange pumpkins and considering knit fabrics to balance things out. You might also consider incorporating fall foliage into this decor style.
Colorful Halloween
Some experts refer to this style as “Happy Halloween”, taking less of a focus on the color black, you’ll want bright orange pumpkins, purple witch hats and even glittery spiders.
You could even consider going right off the color black entirely, choosing instead for bright oranges or even a neon color palette. You might have to search for pieces exclusively online at retailers like Amazon though.
Vintage Halloween
I consider this a specialized version of the Colorful theme because it focuses on colorful and happy elements like smiling Jack o Lanterns. You might add a few worn (AKA well-loved) signs as well to enhance the aesthetic.
Pink Halloween
This is a twist on the colorful Halloween theme, as the name suggests, you want to find pink items to go along with any traditional black items.
You can pick almost any shade of pink, from bright magenta to a baby pink (like these pillow covers, available on Amazon).
Gothic Halloween
If you like shows like the Addams Family (or the modernized version Wednesday on Netflix), the gothic theme for your Halloween decor might just be what you’re searching for.
Gothic incorporates things like skulls and medicine-looking bottles to fully embrace the macabre. Consider using darker colors as well, think blood reds, blacks and of course dark greys.
Creepy/Spooky/Horror Halloween
Do you like slasher flicks?
Try creating signage with threatening lettering and message, miles of spider web and winding vines. Consider adding a few creepy dolls to your shelves as well.
A great rule of thumb here is if it would look at home in your favorite horror movie, it’s probably perfect for this decor theme!
Witchy Theme
I was almost always a witch for Halloween, there was just something so freeing about being a witch. As you might expect with this theme, you’ll want to lean hard into witch inspired decor. Think broomsticks, hats (like my earlier post Floating Witch Hat Lights!).
Witches Not Your Thing?
Consider one of these:
- Vampires
- Werewolves
- Ghosts
Glam Halloween
One of my favorite Halloween decor themes, Glam Halloween incorporates the standard things you might expect in your Halloween Decor, like pumpkins, witches, ghosts, etc. However, you want to add elements of gold or silver in with the spooky.

Neutral Halloween
Neutral Halloween is exactly as it sounds. If you are a fan of muted, yet elegant colors, then you might want to consider trying a neutral theme for your Halloween decor.
Consider choosing warm-toned colors in shades of tan, cream or beige. Plus this theme is perfect if you want to accomplish both fall decor and Halloween in one go!
