Clever Last Minute Halloween Costumes
I’m sure you’ve had this happen to you at some point, the last minute party that you aren’t planning on. All of a sudden you need a costume and you need it quick. These costumes are generally designed to be made with existing clothing, but you can likely get items that you don’t have on hand from a local Walmart or Michaels or even a thrift store.
This post is right up your alley if you also aren’t prepared to drop upwards of $70 on a costume and are tired of the “sexy” trend of women’s costumes. These also are cool, because they aren’t the usual last-minute costumes, like a witch or ghost! If you have more time, check out my earlier post on Halloween Costumes.
Regina George (From “Mean Girls”)
Classic movie, classic character. To create the look, grab a black mini skirt, white tank top (that you’re okay cutting into), colorful bra and a cardigan. Cut out some boob holes in your tank top and you’re good to go. For a bonus trick, create a burn book!
I’ve seen some of these and they’re smart. Such things as a formal gown with a sash that says “apology” (Formal Apology anyone?) to a Hawaiian shirt with boxing gloves (Hawaiian Punch!), pick your favorite play on words or pun and figure out how to create a costume to suit it.
The key to this is makeup (You can find a sweet tutorial on YouTube), then you just need a flannel shirt, a pair of jeans and maybe a cute little straw hat and you’re good to go!
I love the Sims, and this costume is super easy. It starts with wearing whatever the heck you want, getting a headband and crafting yourself a plumbob (you can turn to YouTube for another excellent tutorial).
Grab yourself some tulle, some elastic and attach the tulle in a bath loofah-like pattern and you’re ready to go!
One of my favorite summer-time drinks. Get yourself a green dress, make a cardboard lime and attach to an old headband and make a striped straw (I would use an empty paper towel roll!).
Crazy Cat Lady
Pick out a dowdy dress or better still, a bathrobe and some curlers and grab some stuffed cats to attach. Seriously, spending the evening in a bathrobe and fuzzy slippers sounds comfy!
