How to Make Enchanting Floating Witches Hat Lights For Halloween

Add a touch of enchantment to your porch or even a high chandelier for Halloween by crafting these absolutely enchanting floating witches hat lights. The fishing line is perfect for making it seem like that witches hat and light is just floating around in thin air and it’s sure to add a touch of spine-tingling enchantment to your Halloween decor.

The best part about this craft? You’ll probably spend the most money on the witches hats, especially if you already have the fishing line kicking around in your home already!

Materials You’ll Need:

• Witches Hats (You can get them cheap at Amazon or try your local dollar store)
• Clear Fishing line
• Sewing needle
• Battery operated tealights

Not all battery operated tealights are created equal, to make it easy on yourself, look for ones that have the fake flame above the line of the fake candle, like mine. It makes attaching it to your fishing line so much easier!!

Rope Your Tealight

Fishing line is great for knotting, so I like to start with a length of line roughly double the length of your witch hat. I also like that its super strong and nearly invisible!

Find the center of the rope (it’s okay if it’s not perfectly center) and create a knot large enough to fit over the fake “flame” part of your tealight. Tighten the knot and if you like you can create another few knots if needed.

You then want to create a stopper knot higher up that will keep the tealight positioned near the bottom of the hat once you string the line through the top. To create a stopper knot, I just tie the two lines of fishing line in a knot three times. You want the knot to be larger than the needle you’ll use to feed the fishing line through the top of the hat.

Feed Your Fishing Line Through The Hat

A sewing needle comes in handy here as it can feed the top part of your fishing line through the witches hat. It’s also the best way to feed that fishing line through the material of the hat.

Knot Another Stopper & Knot the Top

Once the fishing line is through to the top of the hat, I like to create another stopper knot for extra stability and then a final knot 

Final Thoughts

Now your witches hat lights are ready to be hung in doorways or wherever you want. Okay, fair, I showed you how to make one, but you simply rinse and repeat to create the number you want! I personally love using them on the front porch for Halloween. Another cool thing to try would be to find timer operated or remote controlled tealights for an extra cool effect!
